  • Windows Sockets File Transfer Protocol Client
    WS_FTP LE

    Requirements

    • WS_FTP 5.05 16-bit requires you to have a properly installed WINSOCK.DLL and requires Windows 3.1 or later. If you don't have a WINSOCK.DLL, I'd suggest getting the free one from Microsoft or the shareware Trumpet Winsock from ftp.trumpet.com.au or buying a vendor supported one from Ipswitch, Inc. or from FTP Software, Inc.

    • WS_FTP 7.6 32-bit requires Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT/XP or Win32s 1.15 (or later). Windows NT and Windows 95 come with a WINSOCK.DLL. If you use a different vendors stack on these platforms you will need to replace the WSOCK32.DLL that comes with the OS.
    • WS_FTP requires a 286 processor.

    • WS_FTP32 and WS_FTP95 require a 386 processor.

There are three free versions of WS_FTP. Why? The 16-bit 4 window version of WS_FTP is the least powerful but it runs on just about anything. The 32-bit 4 window version of WS_FTP is more powerful (allows directory transfers and more) and runs on Win32s, Windows 95/98/ME?2000 and Windows NT/2000/XP. The 32-bit 2 window version of WS_FTP is the most powerful (allows remote file edits and more) and requires the multi-threading capabilities of Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT or Windows XP.

Information on setting up Windows 95 with the Microsoft stack so you can run 32 bit applications like WS_FTP32 and WS_FTP95 can be found on pages by Steve Jenkins or by Bob Cerelli.
